New Polish ferry operator targets the Baltic Sea

Polferries has merged with another Polish ferry operator, and thus no longer represents a possible acquisition for the other Baltic Sea ferry companies. On the contrary, the newly merged player will try to increase its strength on the Baltic Sea market.

Blandt andet DFDS var interesseret i at købe Polferries, som nu fusionerer med et andet polsk færgerederi.

Poland's Ministry of Taxes has, through company Polska Grupa Promova (PGP), merged the two ferry operators Polska Zegluga Baltucka, also known as Polferries, Unity Line, which is owned by company Polsteam.

The move means that interested carriers such as DFDS and Finnlines will miss out on the chance to get their hands on Polferries' market share in the Baltic Sea, according to a statement on the ministry's website.
