This is the shop that Søren Andersen took over on June 1st as new CEO of Rickmers Maritime: 16 container vessels ranging from 3,450 to 5,000 teu, leased to major container operators. A market value of USD 180 million. A German major shareholder, and the rest of the ownership placed in Singapore, where the company is listed. Improved rates, but a broad field of competitors.
This is what Søren Andersen wants to see the company look like before long: An even bigger fleet built through acquisitions of new or second-hand tonnage in the same size range as the company's existing fleet, or slightly smaller. Increased returns to shareholders. A consolidation in the industry through pool collaborations with one or more competitors.
