Norway's new strategy brings more ships under Norwegian flag

New maritime strategy in Norway immediately made several Norwegian carriers line up to place ships under the Norwegian International Ship Register (NIS), says Sturla Henriksen, CEO of the Norwegian Shipowners' Association, in an interview with ShippingWatch.


The industry's reaction to Norway's new maritime strategy was apparent right away. When the government in late May presented the strategy to the industry, members announced that 24 vessels would be placed under NIS flag once the scheme comes into force, explains Sturla Henriksen, CEO of the Norwegian Shipowners' Association.
