EU Parliament: Ships must be included in climate agreement

In a letter to the ministers of environment from the EU member states, the EU Parliament stresses that it is of "vital importance" that a climate agreement reached in Paris later this year includes requirements for shipping.

It is of "vital importance" that the text produced at the UN's climate summit COP21 in Paris in December includes requirements that shipping as well as aviation increase their ambitions in terms of the climate, according to a letter sent by seven of the EU Parliament's eight political groups to the 28 EU member states' ministers for the environment.
