German shipowners expect higher rates from new bulk pool

Hamburg-based carriers H. Vogemann and Ahrenkiel Steamship have launched a pool for dry cargo operators in the Supramax segment.

German dry cargo carrier H. Vogemann will be responsible for the management and charter of a new Supramax-pool launched in collaboration with Ahrenkiel Steamship, according to a press release from Ahrenkiel.

The parties will strive for a more efficient cost structure, and according to the press release, "the two companies anticipate charter income substantially above the figures quoted for the relevant routes in the Baltic Supramax Index."
