Lauritzen's bottom line overshadows its well-run gas carrier

J. Lauritzen's gas carrier, Lauritzen Kosan, is the shining light within a heavily ailing shipping group about to publish its third quarter report on Thursday. The large bulk segment is draining capital, and Kosan has a long way to go before it becomes a major player in its own segment.

It has been five slow years for J. Lauritzen's gas segment Lauritzen Kosan, which recently signed an agreement to time charter two cubic gas carriers with an "obligation to buy" in late 2016.
