Piracy threat has shifted from Aden to Indonesia

Besides internal shifts in terms of where pirate attacks and attempted attacks occur, the combined number of piracy incidents remains virtually constant. Indonesia is the epicenter for attacks, while the Gulf of Aden has a clean sheet, reports the International Maritime Bureau.

The number of pirate attacks or attempted attacks has remained more or less constant during the past two years. Looking across a five-year period the number of pirate-related attacks has dropped 50 percent before flat-lining in 2014 and 2015.
