Monjasa maintains innocence after Nigerian conviction

At no point did the case bring forth any evidence, claims Danish bunker carrier Monjasa after a court in Nigeria convicted a chartered vessel and 14 crew members for illegal bunker trading.

The crew of the Monjasa-chartered tanker vessel Anuket Emerald, which has now been convicted of illegal bunker oil trading in Nigeria, has left the country while a legal process has been initiated to decide the vessel's fate, writes Monjasa in an email to ShippingWatch.

The case has been ongoing for close to a year after the ship was arrested by a Nigerian naval vessel in March 2015. The vessel is in the custody of the Nigerian authorities.
