It is now time for the IMO to deliver after COP21

When the nations of the UN International Maritime Organization meet next week, one topic in particular will be on the agenda. It is crucial that the countries make a move now, says Maria Bruun Skipper from the Danish Shipowners' Association. "Or we will be in a very vulnerable situation."

There was obvious disappointment in many shipping circles when the climate summit COP21 in Paris wrapped up mid-December last year. Even though several industry stakeholders wanted to join an international climate deal, this did not happen. Shipping and aviation were excluded from the final accord regarding global greenhouse gas emissions.
