Maritime organizations call for uniform container weight rules

Several of Europe's most powerful maritime organizations are now calling for uniform implementation of the new global container weighing rules in order to prevent distorted competition.

Starting July 1st 2016, all containers setting off on an international journey by sea must must be weighed according to a new system (VGM), as the UN's International Maritime Organization, IMO, decided back in 2014 with the SOLAS regulation in an effort to improve safety at sea.
