Maersk and Boeing join forces to hunt sulfur violators

The two industry behemoths Maersk and Boeing are now joining forces with, among others, the Danish Maritime Authority in seeking help from students at the Denmark's Technical University which, in an upcoming competition, will present their proposals for how to enforce the coming IMO sulfur emission requirements.

There is one thing missing in terms of the IMO's international sulfur regulations bringing any actual changes when they come into force in 2020 or 2025 – namely a method which authorities across the globe can use far out at sea to monitor whether the ships are complying with the regulations.
