Singapore halfway to the finish line with new bunker rules

Slightly more than half of the bunker vessels flagged in Singapore are now designed to comply with bunker laws for mass flow meters, in order to stop fraud related to volumes of bunkered fuel.

With just two weeks left before Jan. 1 2017, when flow meters will become mandatory for tankers belonging to Singapore, slightly more than half of the tanker fleet have crossed the finish line and completed the upgrade, according to a calculation on the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore's website Monday, writes platts.com.
