German family acquires SAL from Japan's K-Line

The Briese and Harren family have a firm grip on the global heavy lift segment after K-Line has agreed to sell SAL Heavy Lift to company Salto, owned by Martin and Peter Harren. With Briese owning BBC Chartering and working closely together with Harren, the concentration of the segment in North Germany seems absolute.

Japan's K-Line has agreed to sell SAL Heavy Lift to German company Salto, informs the Japanese carrier in a press release.

As such, the consolidation – as mentioned by virtually all players in the strained segment in the last couple of years – seems to be falling into place with North Germany and Hamburg, Bremen, and Leer as an absolute global hub for the specialized vessels.
