Trump responds to Chinese tariffs by escalating

Friday, the US president warned of an increase in existing tariffs and of the upcoming ones on Chinese goods in response China's new tariffs on US goods.

Friday on Twitter, US President Donald Trump warned of an increase in both existing tariffs and of the upcoming new tariffs on Chinese goods.

In the future, Chinese goods worth USD 250 billion, currently subject to a 25-percent tariff, will have a 30-percent tariff imposed upon them. The increased tariff will enter force on Oct. 1.
