German yard to develop hydrogen fuel cells for cruise vessels

German shipyard Meyer Werft has joined forces with a number of other companies to develop hydrogen cells for use on an ocean-going cruise ship. DNV GL participates.

German shipyard Meyer Werft has launched a new collaboration aimed at making hydrogen a sustainable ship fuel.

Along with supplier Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, the yard has started developing fuel cells with hydrogen extracted from methanol.
