Alphaliner: Scrubber-equipped container ships can sail faster

Container ships equipped with scrubbers will be able to speed up in 2020 due to their ability to tank and burn cheap bunker, thus providing a competitive advantage, writes Alphaliner. Maersk and MSC via their 2M Alliance look set to benefit in particular, the firm reports.

In 2020, one in ten container ships are expected to have a scrubber system installed, and this will give the vessels a competitive advantage through their ability to sail faster on less expensive heavy fuel, projects maritime analyst firm Alphaliner in its weekly newsletter.
