Tanker ship receives major scrubber fine in Hamburg

A tanker vessel has received the largest possible fine for discharging wash water from an open-loop scrubber into the Elbe in the Port of Hamburg. The ship moreover sailed on high-sulfur fuel.

A tanker ship has received a large fine for using open-loop scrubbers in the Port of Hamburg.

The owner of the unidentified vessel sailing under the flag of the Marshall Islands was fined the highest possible amount, EUR 50,000, for discharging wash water from a scrubber into the Elbe river.
