Oil fund's new coal criteria exclude global trader

The world's largest investor, the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund, has excluded five companies and placed four under observation as a consequence of new rules for companies dealing in coal.

The executive board of Norges Bank, the central bank of Norway, now excludes five companies from the country's Government Pension Fund Global.

The companies include global commodity trader Glencore PLC, which was excluded because of the fund's new criteria for coal companies. The same applies to companies Sasol Ltd, RWE AG, AGL Energy Ltd and Anglo American PLC, Norges Bank states in a news release.
