Six green NGOs warn IMO against watering down carbon target

In a joint statement, six NGOs, which all deal with maritime transport, warn the IMO against watering down the commitment the organization has made in terms of reduing carbon emissions.

Six environmental NGOs issue a joint statement warning the IMO against slacking off on the ambition set by the UN International Maritime Organization in April 2018.

This was the agreement in which the member states remarkably agreed to make shipping more efficient and to thus reduce carbon emissions ahead of 2030, and to reduce greenhouse gases by at least 50 percent ahead of 2050.
