EU environmental committee will out-phase open-loop scrubbers on ships

A majority in the European Parliament's environmental committee now recommends phasing out open-loop scrubbers in the shipping sector, according to Argus Media.

Forces in the EU system are working to out-phase the use of open-loop scrubbers in the shipping sector, reports Argus Media.

The media notes that the EU Parliament's Environmental Committee, in relation to a hearing on a so-called initiative report from its Transport Committee, has has made a recommendation of phasing out or banning the use of open-loop scrubbers.
