Japanese K Line aims to procure eight car carriers equipped with engines that run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) for delivery between 2023 and 2025. The order for the eight new vessels comes after K Line took delivery of its first LNG-powered car carrier in March, Century Highway Green.
"In K Line Environmental Vision 2050 [...] we have set the 2030 interim target of improving CO2 emission efficiency by 50 percent over 2008, surpassing the IMO target of 40 percent improvement," K Line writes in a press release with reference to the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
