Danish politicians criticize lenient tonnage taxation of shipping majors like Maersk

Maersk should pay corporate taxes in line with all other companies instead of the "provoking" lower tonnage tax, argue Danish politicians. "A very bad idea," says Danish Shipping.

With the prospect of a record profit of DKK 100 billion (USD 15.9 billion) at Maersk this year, it is "provoking" that Maersk and other carriers are benefiting from state subsidies in the form of lenient taxation, argues Lisbeth Bech-Nielsen, spokesperson on trade and industry for the Socialist People's Party SF.
