US Senate approves shipping law providing extra authority to FMC

New legislation aims to ensure US exporters better service in dealings with major container carriers. Exporters complain that it’s difficult to get their commodities out of the country.

On Thursday, the US Senate passed a bill, The Ocean Shipping Reform Act, which will make it easier for the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) to assert authority on issues within container shipping, reports Reuters.
