CMA CGM: Access to green fuel determines fleet reorganization

NGOs urge the world’s leading container carriers to order only zero-emissions vessels. To ShippingWatch, CMA CGM points out that the carrier’s new ships are prepared to sail on biomethane, and that access to green fuels is crucial to the industry.

According to major French container line CMA CGM, the company is working on the green transformation of its fleet, also if new ships that are commissioned sail on the fossil fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG).

”Today, dual-fuel vessels propelled with LNG are still the best available and evolutive solution when it comes to initiating the CO2 emission reduction process, as well as preserving air quality, a major public health challenge,” states the carrier in a comment to ShippingWatch.
