
BRUSSELS – Following a protracted tug-of-war, the shipping sector is now officially one step closer to a future involving CO2 quota requirements.
This is clear after Wednesday, when the European Parliament by a massive majority passed a long-awaited negotiating mandate involving matters such as the Emissions Trading System (ETS), one of the central legislative measures in the European Union’s climate change mitigation efforts.
