Is the sulfur regulation actually a bad idea for the environment?

Two and a half years after the sulfur cap was initiated, Sintef Ocean scientist Elizabeth Lindstad says that it isn’t all that positive for the environment after all. “Someone should raise this issue,” she tells ShippingWatch.

Heat waves and the most extensive droughts in living memory have ravaged Europe this summer. The shipping industry and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) have for an extended period focused on limiting sulfur in vessels’ emissions to limit climate change.
