In a few months, the EU’s oil embargo against Russia will take effect. But tanker carriers still risk ending up importing Russian oil to the union, lawyer specializing in sanctions tells ShippingWatch.

When the EU’s embargo against Russian oil and oil products comes fully into force in February 2023, it will – at least on paper – entail a total halt on imports to the European market.
