EU aims for quick clarification on green fuels to add pressure on IMO

Thursday, the EU began the last round of negotiations about how big a share of shipping fuels that ought to be green. The aim, among others, is to add pressure on the IMO. Demands may cover both shipowners and bunker firms.

Carriers should prepare for having to fill at least 2 percent of green fuel in tanks from 2025, because on this particular point, there seems to be consensus in the European Union when it comes to regulation for how to promote the green energy transition within shipping.
