Singapore’s Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) is heading a consortium, which has trialed supply chains for biofuels.

In collaboration with suppliers such as Chevron and carriers such as CMA CGM, ONE and Maran Tankers, GCMD has tested two biofuel supply chains from production to final consumption aboard ships, the center writes in a press release.

The fuel was produced outside Singapore, then transported to Singapore where it was blended and bunkered aboard vessels from the participating carriers before the ultimate combustion.

”Collaborating and sharing transparently with willing project partners enabled these trials to take place successfully despite the complexities of the marine fuel supply chain and uncertainties in bunkering operations,” states GMCD in the announcement.
