European Parliament votes in favor of shipping quota system

From 2024, carriers will have to pay for their CO2 emissions, following the landslide approval of a new bill in the European Parliament. Shipping will also receive a new climate fund.

Shipping will be part of the EU’s system for trade with CO2 quotas, the Emission Trading System (ETS), once we hit 2024.
