Number of piracy incidents soared in the start of the year

Piracy activities have increased in the first quarter of 2024, with attacks occurring particularly in the South East Asia region, according to a new report.

There were 33 pirate attacks against civilian maritime and merchant vessels in the first three months of January, according to a new report from the ICC International Maritime Bureau.
