Spain set to profit big-time from climate tax paid by foreign carriers

Greece and Spain are each set to earn EUR 1bn per year from shipping companies’ climate taxes in the EU. Industry advisor is puzzled.

Spain and Greece could earn upwards of a billion euros from shipping’s inclusion in the EU’s emission trading system, where shipowners will have to pay for carbon emissions from their shipping fleets.
