Suppliers preparing for additional bans on open-loop scrubbers

Scrubber manufacturers are, like a number of shipping companies, preparing for more bans on the use of open-loop scrubbers, but they do not envision a global ban on the open-loop systems. The EU is monitoring developments.

Open-loop scrubbers could be banned in even more areas than is the case today.

Most recently, the world's biggest bunker port, Singapore, announced its decision to ban the use of open-loop scrubbers that eject wash water containing sulfur particles from the ships' exhaust into the sea.
