South Korean shipbuilders back in first place

The shipyards in South Korea received the most orders for newbuilds in 2018. This puts the South Korean shipyards back in first place after having been beaten by their Chinese competitors in the past five years, according to numbers from Clarkson Research.

The South Korean shipbuilders booked the most orders of all in 2018 and are now back in first place after having been banished to second place by China for several years.

New numbers from Clarkson Research show that 44.2 percent of all tonnage orders last year went to shipbuilders in South Korea, reports news agency Yonhap News.
