CMB Financial Leasing closes record year with western shipowners

Chinese CMB Financial Leasing experienced a boom in its activities with, above all, western shipowners in 2019, and the company closes a record year, General Manager Ling Zhou tells ShippingWatch. Customers include MSC and CMA CGM.

With around 200 vessels on the book with a combined asset value of USD 6.5 billion, a Chinese leasing company has basically positioned itself among the world's major shipowners over only a few years.

CMB Financial Leasing was even able to close 2019 with a record influx of new deals and new customers such as Stolt-Nielsen and Odfjell adding to the existing list of recognized names like MSC, CMA CGM and Teekay.
