Japan to support its shipyards with new financing scheme

First China, then South Korea, and now Japan intends to help the country's financially strained shipbuilding industry. Companies established abroad will act as sellers of individual ships and receive the aid meant to get shipping lines back on track with orders.

Japan has usually been a bitter opponent of state aid for companies in need, including the shipbuilding industry, where the country alongside China and South Korea makes up the center of the world's production of merchant vessels.
