Scrubber suppliers tie their hopes to surging oil price

Scrubber suppliers such as Pureteq og ME Production took a big hit from the drop in oil price and the global pandemic, which shut down key markets in Asia. A year later, the oil price stands as a beacon of hope for the suppliers.

Only a year ago, scrubber suppliers had entirely full orderbooks and looked forward to a lucrative market for the installation of exhaust gas cleaning systems in the global merchant fleet.

Suppliers such as Pureteq and ME Production were ready to hire new staff on the move towards record results – that is, until the global pandemic arrived like a black swan and threw suppliers into a dramatic struggle in early 2020.
