Ukraine crisis prompts bunker market insecurity

The high bunker oil prices are not primarily caused by the Ukraine crisis, in which Russia has confronted the West and in turn been hit by sanctions. So far, the conflict has only had a limited effect on bunker, states Keld R. Demant, Bunker Holding CEO.
"How the bunker market will react over the next weeks and months depends on whether the conflict de-escalates or whether further and harder sanctions are introduced," says Keld R. Demant, CEO of Bunker Holding. | Photo: PR-FOTO

The bunker oil price is at its highest level in a very long time, but the soaring energy prices, including the price on a barrel of crude oil, is not only pushed up due to the months-long crisis in Ukraine.
