Green methanol could be overtaken by ammonia as a shipping fuel

High costs for climate-friendly CO2 to be used in the production of green methanol could make shipping companies switch to ammonia, says to S&P Global.

The much-hyped green methanol, which Maersk and several other shipping companies swear by as the shipping fuel of the future, may in a few years be overtaken by ammonia as the shipping companies’ preferred fuel.
