Desmi moves production to China

In the coming years, the Danish manufacturer of pumps and ballast water systems, Desmi, will move its entire production to China and the company is already well on its way. The move will strengthen focus on marketing and customer service, says group manager Henrik Sørensen to ShippingWatch.

Long-term plans cost money, which Desmi’s final result from 2012 shows. 2012 was the first time Desmi saw a deterioration compared with the last five years. However, this does not change the fact that the entire basis production in the long term will be moving to China, in which the company already has two factories in Suzhou outside of Shanghai as well as co-operations with several sub-suppliers. In order to secure the supply, Desmi established its own bronze foundry in Xuancheng in southern China last year.
