ABB wins contracts for USD 23 million

Swiss ABB has secured two contracts for a total of USD 23 million in the 3rd quarter of the year. The company will supply waste heat recovery systems for 14 new 8,800 teu container ships.

Swiss supplier ABB has landed a huge order, as two new contracts mean that the company will supply waste heat recovery systems for 14 new 8,800 teu container ships, says ABB in a press release.

The system can improve a ship's efficiency by up to four percent, by recovering lost fuel energy from the engine and converting it to electricity. This helps reduce fuel consumption, thus decreasing a ship's CO2 emissions. The systems are powered by ABB's Power Turbine Generator (PTG).
