US shipowners support rejected ballast water test method

The Chamber of Shipping of America supports the ballast water system manufacturers who had their MPN test method rejected by the US Coast Guard recently, and the chamber warns of "uproar and confusion in the international shipping industry," if the rejection is allowed to stand.

The Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA), which represents shipowners in the US, is now voicing its support for Desmi Ocean Guard and other ballast water management system (BWMS) with calls for the US Coast Guard to reverse its decision to reject the so-called MPN test method for ballast water treatment systems.
