Thome under pressure to work smarter

Thome's new CEO projects that 2016 will be "a bad year" and thus plans to spend it optimizing the company's work processes. With the help of technology, Olav Nortun wants to get the ship management in shape for the next big wave, he tells ShippingWatch.

The distance between the street and Thome's 43rd floor office in Singapore's central business district makes it feel like stepping into another era when entering the company's offices. Inside, a large yellowish globe is poised on the floor alongside an old brass ship bell while an antique wooden rudder is displayed on the wall above and, together with the dim lighting, contributes to the feeling of standing with the captain of at the helm of an old steam ship.
