Hundreds of jobs at risk at Odfjell Drilling

Odfjell Drilling could be facing hundreds of layoffs after losing Statoil contracts, according to Norwegian media sources. All the while, John Fredriksen's Archer is gearing up for new recruitments.

Hundreds of jobs could disappear at Odfjell Drilling after the company failed to have all of its Statoil contracts extended. This is the assessment from Tor-Bjarte Jakobsen, head of Odfjell Drilling's union Industri Energi, in comments to the Norwegian media Sysla.no.

"This means that hundreds of positions could disappear. It will be rough on all divisions of the national organization. Today is a dark day," he says in a comment to Statoil's awarding and extension of contracts until 2018.
