NGO: Environmental standards too low

It is too easy to meet the EEDI requirements for newly built vessels, according to Clean Shipping Coalition. The environmental organization calls for higher standards in order to prompt the use of green technology.

The green design requirements for newbuildings need to be tightened, notes the environmental organizations Transport & Environment along with Seas at Risk in response to a new study which shows that many vessels meet the requirements whether they are affected by the standards or not.
