Law firm: Rotterdam could ensure ship arrests across the EU

Suppliers to the international shipping industry, including bunker suppliers, should include Rotterdam courts as jurisdictions in their contracts, recommends law firm AKD. The Netherlands is an arrest paradise, notes the firm. And the new EU rules pave the way for arrests in other EU nations.

Bunker companies and other shipping industry suppliers should consider adjusting jurisdiction clauses in their contracts to also cover courts in Rotterdam, recommends law firm AKD, which is based in the Dutch port city.
