North Sea discovery could bolster oil and gas sector in 2019

French oil major Total has found large volumes of oil during exploration on the UK Continental Shelf. The discovery is the largest UK gas discovery in more than a decade, says Wood Mackenzie.

The North Sea has been deemed mature for retirement countless times in recent years. But the area apparently still has more in store for the time being.

In any case, the area between Scandinavia and the UK has just turned out yet another subsea oil discovery. This time the discovery is on the UK Continental Shelf in the area between Glengorm near Central Graben, which is located roughly halfway between Norway and the UK.
