Hard-strained Aker BP returns to profit

Despite a still-severe slide in the oil and gas price, Aker BP turned its large million dollar deficit from the first quarter into a profit in the second quarter.

Times are still uneasy for the oil sector, but Aker BP was still able to turn developments around in a second quarter, where the price of oil dropped by another 33 percent, and the price of natural gas went down 40 percent compared to the first quarter.

The price is slowly starting to increase, but Aker BP has already now turned the negative numbers positive, as the deficit of USD 335 million from the first quarter has been replaced by a profit of USD 170 million.
