
The Danish Energy Agency’s (DEA) issuance of domestic CO2 storage licenses is moving too slowly, says Jacob Clasen, deputy chief executive of lobby organization Danish Shipping, in an interview with ShippingWatch’s sister media EnergyWatch.
Clasen notes that power company Ørsted is banking on sending around 400,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide for containment in Norway’s Northern Lights project as a part of Denmark’s ongoing tender for carbon capture and storage (CCS) infrastructure, which the utility expects to have in operation from Jan. 1, 2026, as required by the DEA.
