Statoil builds world's first floating wind farm

Statoil has made the final decision to construct the world's first floating offshore wind farm, which will be located in the North Sea and come at a price of around USD 236 million. The project will pave the way for more wind farms of this kind.

With an investment of around USD 236 million, Norwegian energy giant Statoil has made a historical investment decision aimed at building the world's first floating wind farm.

According to a statement from Statoil, the wind farm will be located in the North Sea, in Hywind, off the coast of Petershead in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, to be exact.
